A New Deal for Nightlife?
Some reflections on working in the music industry and trying to respond to sexual violence.
Something you may not have known about me is that I used to take music very seriously. I was in a rock band, and I started a music blog and booking company focusing on up-and-coming music of all genres. When I was still in college, I thought I was going to stay in music business for my career. Ultimately, that didn’t pan out, but the experiences I had in the music industry helped lead me towards my current politics.
I’ve got a new essay up in Protean Magazine today digging into one of the many reasons why I left the music industry: Safety, or the lack thereof.
